Personal profile
A craftsman’s path into industrial machinery.
I am a qualified machine tool manufacturer with more than twenty-five years in the field of machine tools. After completing theoretical, practical, and industrial training to a professional standard, I established Dushantha Engineering (Private) Limited to design and produce machines — and to introduce new products — for Sri Lanka’s industrial sector.
My foundation was laid at the Sri Lanka–German Railway Technical Training Centre, Ratmalana, under the National Apprenticeship Scheme. Over three and a half years I trained as a Machinist (General), with workshop experience in the Chief Mechanical Engineer’s workshops of Sri Lanka Railway. That discipline — drawing, measurement, metal, and the machine itself — still governs how every piece of equipment leaves our floor.
Dushantha Engineering is committed to innovative, durable, energy-efficient, and high-performance machinery engineered to international standards and to each customer’s operational requirements. From compact machines to complete industrial production systems, we develop custom equipment around the plant, the product, and the people who will run it.

Three-and-a-half-year full-time course: three months of theory (technology, industrial mathematics and science, industrial drawing), nine months of practical training in workshops and laboratories, and thirty months of industrial training at the Chief Mechanical Engineer’s workshops of Sri Lanka Railway and other institutions. Final trade test: 20 April 2002.

Employed as a latheman with a manufacturer of bakery equipment and fruit and vegetable processing machinery. The engagement confirmed workshop discipline, precision turning, and food-industry fabrication — the same family of skills that later shaped feed and fertilizer plant equipment.
